So instead of new photos of the flora and fauna at the vacation rental, here's a photo of one of the things that I'm most looking forward to seeing the progress of when I get home:
The purple hyacinth beans were just starting to bloom as we left for vacation. I can't wait to see what they look like when we get home.
I also finally know what this is:
As we were leaving I noticed that the top had flopped over sideways towards the sun and wonder of wonders petals were coming out -- it's a sunflower! I had never seen one in advance of blooming before so I had no idea what I had. I think I have 3 in the wildflower patch. I had 4, but I lost one in the first rain storm when it fell over and the stem snapped.
Finally, I moved the sweet potato vine into this unused watering can the day before we left and I can't wait to see how it's responding to more space.
Not much hanging by the pool today. Yesterday I said to younger step-son, make sure you wear shoes walking on the grass, he ignored me and stepped on a bee not 2 minutes later. Then I asked if he had put on sunscreen...I don't need sunscreen he replied, but all night it was my sunburn hurts so much. Today he's doing everything I suggest (take an antihistamine for the bee sting, drink water, put on aloe, etc.)...maybe he'll start listening to me when I tell him to study harder so he can get into a good college. But between my mild sunburn, his bad one, and older step-son's cold, only VPH made use of the pool today.
