This feels like bragging, but imagine me saying it in a very humble way...for the 2nd month in a row I got an honorable mention in GGW's Picture This photo contest!
Saxon Holt had this to say about my photo:
"I am sure glad Heather at Heather’s Garden sent in her lupine photo. She demurred about a second choice, but this wins our second Honorable Mention. While I might have used a reflector card to add a bit more light to the bottom leaves emerging from the soil, the exuberant emphasis is clearly the still opening leaves – like bursting stars awakening."
He makes a very good point about the reflector card and from what I've read any white piece of paper would work, so I think I'll pick up a package of white index cards next time I'm at a store. In case you don't remember the photo:
Make sure you go by GGW to view the winning photographs and the other honorable mention photo. Saxon Holt gives some very good critiques, which I always find very helpful and I've learned a lot from reading his frequent posts on garden photography on GGW.
I'm beyond excited still and bouncing around the house. It's so gratifying to receive positive feedback from a professional. Hearing compliments from friends and family is nice too, but isn't your mom required to think you're the best at everything?
