The little rhododendron bush by the front steps is blooming. There are fewer than 10 blooms, but they're such a cute light purple. It's a Purple Gem rhododendron -- $3 each on clearance at Home Depot if I recall correctly -- planted in September 2008:
Chives grown from seed that my mom sent me a few years ago. I'm supposed to gather some seed from these when they bloom and send it back down to my mom, but I think that they're just plain old regular chives not garlic chives as they were labeled, so I'm not sure it's worth gathering seed for you, mom:
And more for you, mom, those pretty purplish hosta shoots have just plain old green leaves:
The Cinnamon fern fiddle-heads are so alien-like bunched up together like this:
I might have used this as my green world photo entry to GGW's Picture This contest if I hadn't already submitted my entry: the fiddle-head photo from last year. The late afternoon sun on this astilbe leaf stopped me in my tracks:
But I can't decide if I like it better put through Picasa:
I just can't stop staring at this pot:
Another big box purchase, this time from Wal-mart, an Ichiban eggplant that has two plants in one container for $3, I couldn't pass that by without purchasing:
I'm not sure yet if I'll plant them together as is, or try and separate them and plant them a little bit apart in one large container, or 2 completely separate containers.
Oh, and in case you couldn't figure it out, the title refers to the photo contest entry, it was a little random. And do tell me which version of the photo you like better, it's definitely a candidate for next year's calendar.
