Work and the weather have kept me out of the garden for a while. You may recall from my last post that I hadn't even taken a photo of the garden since last week. I also fit in some time with friends and family away from home. But on Friday work, life, and the weather finally aligned so that I could spend some time in our beautiful sunny garden. Of course much of it was spent lounging in a comfy chair reading in the sun and enjoying this view:
But I took some time to wander our ignored veggie garden. Turns out those ivory bell peppers ripen to a beautiful yellow:
And the beans and tomatoes kept going while we weren't looking:
Lee grilled an awesome pork loin and has completely mastered the grilled sliced Yukon Gold potatoes and Vidalia onion in foil. This time he even remembered to slice some of our chives for a garnish. And Lee prepared the beans I picked with fresh ginger he had on hand. You have to try this, it was so good I had seconds of beans:
Now I'm heading back outside for some more reading in the sun and maybe I'll even plant some fall crops, or maybe I'll just be lazy. I'd like to spend some quality time with the kid because we're bringing him back to school tomorrow, but he doesn't seem too interested in hanging out with us today. Ah, now I understand why he was packing the car so early, his girlfriend just arrived to spend the day with him. He swears he told us, but neither Lee nor I knew, one of us ignoring him, but both? Oh well, back to that comfy chair I go.
