One advantage of not going to FL for Thanksgiving this year is that we are way ahead of schedule on holiday prep. We already have the tree up and completely trimmed. I love the way we did it this year. We put the tree up Saturday morning (new and slightly too large for the space and room, but SS2 and I made it work). Our guests arrived in the early afternoon for our belated Thanksgiving dinner (pork loin instead of turkey -- soooooo much easier and in my opinion tastier). We chatted for a while, had some appetizers, and then I took out all the ornaments and put my guests to work:
Of course the gigantic tree in the living room (the back half of the tree is folded up and shoved against the wall) means shifting furniture all over the place. The amaryllis is growing nicely even in this tight little corner:
And in the bathroom the paperwhite bulb is doing fantastically:
Look at the roots coming out of it:
I just keep staring at them endlessly:
Thanksgiving was wonderful and we've been watching a Christmas movie (or TV episode) a day since then. Tonight a friend and I went to another friend's caroling group's concert which was a lovely way to start off the Christmas season -- friends and family, that's what it's all about!
