    June 13, 2011

How fun, Heather! Dang! I didn't realize SGC only did tours every three years. Seems I'm always hearing about them. Anyway, your photos are great. I recognize a few of those addresses and since the gardens face the water, you can't walk past the front of these homes and see the gardens. Glad you posted, but I'm itching to know who the photographer is. Azu is good, isn't it? :-)

Your post gave me so many new ideas - especially how the gardeners at SGT created 'serenity space.' Weathered old wood of any shape is very pleasing, and I love the thought of a stacked group of pavers as a focal point, rather than as a barrier.
But the best look was the 'climbing' hydrangea - how clever. I vow to think more outside the box.

I stumbled across your blog from My Skinny Garden... this post is such an inspiration! Granted, I'm pretty sure I can't afford to make my garden look quite like any of these and mine would be largely vegetable-based, but there are so many beautiful ideas here. I'm sure with a little creativity and thriftiness, it can be done. :) Thanks for posting soooo many pictures and descriptions!

Wendy -- Maybe they do smaller tours in the off years? Azu was great! I don't get down to that part of the state often, but it's very nice.

Mom -- I wish there was more information on some of the gardens though, like how long it took to develop them or how much money it cost. But I think of our garden and I have no idea how much money I've invested in it.

Stacey G -- I don't think many people can afford to have gardens that look like these! Glad you enjoyed the tour. You should look back at my posts in July last year of our visit to Buffalo -- you'll find inspiration there for sure!
