I mentioned a while ago that VPH had pulled a lot of junk from beneath the bastard garden. Now that the mosquitoes have died back a little, it was finally safe to go back behind the shed and document the horror.
We really have no idea what the items are other than rusty junk. VPH suspects there is an entire motor vehicle down there somewhere and he's pulling it out piece by piece.
Plenty of old fencing and a trap of some sort?
A tail pipe and 2 moving blankets? Not to mention the apparent grill rack:
Is that an old school TV antenna?
Now we just need to figure out what to do with all this crap. I told VPH he should call the landlord and say look what we found, use your truck to bring it to the dump. But for some reason, he's not jumping to do that. I don't want any of that crap in my car and some pieces are too big for our vehicles. I'm not sure why he started pulling stuff out either, but do you ever really know why men do anything?
Finally this spider is easily 2 inches tall and has spun and re-spun a web between the shed and the compost bin. It completely freaks me out!
And it's missing 1.5 of its legs, what is ballsy enough to take 1.5 leg off of a mammoth spider like this? VPH actually traps bugs elsewhere and transports them to this spider to feed it. Ugh, gross, kill it! But I'm trying to love spiders since they take care of problem insects for me.
hey heather! you know, cleaning up that crap seems so simple when you think about it. BUT it is a pain in the ass! i mean what the heck are you gonna do with it? i suppose you could go down to HD and rent one of those lil 19.99 trucks to haul it off. maybe your guy could arrange it creatively as Bastard Garden Art.

Gina -- I read your comment out loud to VPH and he mockingly looked thoughtful. As if I'd ever let him construct junk sculptures in my garden! You did make me laugh out loud though. I still say my landlord should come pick up the junk and take it away. We are, after all, improving their property and specifically cleaning it up! One of these days I will capture on film the people who live behind us dumping God knows what into the no man's land between our properties. Another reason why I will never put our vegetable garden into the ground.

Heather: You said it! Who knows why they do some things! That is one nasty spider! As you can see, I am not at Blithewold either. Since I pass by when I am driving here, there and everywhere, it didn't seem the right thing to do on a day off when plants needed to be planted and gardens needed to be cleaned. I know Kris will have her hands full with the crowd that did show up.

Layanee - oh good, I would have felt really bad if I had missed you both! It turned out to be a fairly nice day here, though I don't really have anything to do in the garden I did relax on my double-lounger reading a book from 11:30am to 3:00pm. I hope there wasn't enough sun coming through the clouds that I end up sunburned!

Okay, after leaving a comment on my own blog (after reading your comment and this link) I had to go online and search to see whether or not I was crazy, thinking your "antenna" might be a rake. Check this out:

Maybe I'm not crazy! (Or at least, not in regards to this. lol.)
